“Brush aside the witty skits and fake commercials of Liars Theatre and you’re face to face with the show’s main artery – the luscious tapestry of music, courtesy of the Holotones. With the troupe’s newly released debut CD, diehard LHRT fans will be pleased to note that many of their favorites are here – Nina Swanson alternately sultry and sassy, the Rev. Doug Jackson belting out a soulful tune, opera-trained Karla Goettel soaring soprano, Janelle Lauer purring like a lusty lion. Newcomers to LHRT will be in awe of the range of music, 14 songs that hop from Tom Jones, to gypsy beat “Ghost of Stephen Foster.” Fourteen songs later, you’ll be wishing for an encore. Now that the Holotones are on CD, encore is as simple as hitting replay.”
